The institute is focused on innovation in education and bringing science and teaching closer together.
Within the framework of these aims, the Institute for ocean sciences funds a number of educational innovation initiatives such as summer schools, educational field missions and the option for students to participate remotely in oceanographic expeditions organised by the IFREMER.
Ocean 2026 Summer School: Understanding plastic pollution in the marine environment: interdisciplinary approach and means of action
This summer school offers an interdisciplinary approach to plastic pollution in the marine environment. It explores methods for measuring plastics - from nanoplastics to macroplastics - in different environmental contexts, from the Mediterranean to the southern hemisphere.
Alternating lectures, practical work and field trips, this summer school aims to strengthen the links between research and society. It will enable participants to gain a better understanding of the complexity of plastic pollution at sea, and to identify concrete courses of action in the face of this major environmental challenge.
