Mission

The Institut Sciences de l'Océan (OCEAN) is one of 18 institutes created by Aix-Marseille Université, with the aim of further structuring the site in terms of research - training - innovation, in particular by strengthening links between training and research, interdisciplinarity and internationalization.

OCEAN Summer school AAP framework

To support the above objectives, OCEAN proposes to fund up to €18,000 for the organization of one or more Summer schools in 2022.

  • At a minimum, the Summer school must be accessible to Master's students within the perimeter and be in line with OCEAN's objectives and challenges.
  • The Summer school must take place before the end of July 2022, comply with A*MIDEX funding rules concerning expenditure on events(see Appendix 1) and with DEVE-AMU procedures concerning the management of short courses.

AAP OCEAN Summer School timetable

Phase 1 proposals must be submitted by January 31, 2022, by completing the template inAppendix 1 on page 2 of the AAP and e-mailing it to kalliopi Pediaditi.

A review by the OCEAN Summer school working group will take place and feedback will be provided by February 14, 2022.

The proposal must be signed by the director of the faculties, who will agree to take charge of administrative operations (such as issuing certificates for short courses, processing overtime for teachers, etc.).

Final Phase 2 proposals must be submitted by February 18, 2022, incorporating the working group's recommendations.

The OCEAN Training committee will select the summer school project(s) to be funded and a response will be provided by March 1, 2022.

An informal webinar and interdisciplinary workshop on the Summer school will be held on January 14, 2022, 12:30- 13:30in whichworking group members and potential applicants can participate, with the aim of developing a proposal that is inclusive and interdisciplinary.

Evaluation criteria

All proposals submitted will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Interdisciplinarity (subject) - eligibility criterion
  • Scientific excellence and innovativeness of disciplines (20%)
  • Interdisciplinarity (student/teacher participation of more than 1 OCEAN Master) (20%)
  • Internationalization (visiting professors and international openness) (20%)
  • Internationally (online distance international dimension) (Bonus 10%)
  • IEM (case studies and IEM involvement) (10%)
  • Quality of proposed organization, administrative support (20%)
